How We Used Wyndham Points to Book a Vacasa Rental for Our Family of 10 in Park City
May 06, 2025How We Used Wyndham Points to Book a Vacasa Rental for Our Family of 10 in Park City
When most people think about using credit card points, they picture free flights or fancy hotel rooms. But did you know you can also use your points for entire vacation homes?
That’s exactly what we did on our recent trip to Park City, Utah—a snowy, adventure-filled getaway for our family of 10. And the best part? We booked the entire Vacasa house using Wyndham points.
Here’s how we pulled it off—and how you can too.
The Backstory: Why We Chose Park City
With a big family, travel planning always takes extra coordination. We wanted somewhere scenic, cozy, and with enough space for our family, grandparents, and aunts/uncle could stretch out. Park City checked all the boxes—world-class skiing, cute downtown, and easy access from Salt Lake City.
We looked at traditional hotels, but with 10 people, the costs were adding up fast—and splitting into multiple rooms wasn’t the family vibe we wanted.
That’s when I remembered: Wyndham partners with Vacasa.
Step-by-Step: Booking a Vacasa Home with Wyndham Points
Vacasa is a vacation rental platform with thousands of homes across the U.S.—think Airbnb-style properties, but with the added bonus of being bookable using Wyndham Rewards points.
Here’s how we did it:
1. Browse Vacasa Listings First
We started by searching on Vacasa.com for homes in Park City that could sleep 10. We filtered for enough beds, bathrooms, and key amenities (like a hot tub!).
Tip: Take note of the property ID number for your favorite listings.
2. Check Availability Through Wyndham
Vacasa bookings with points aren’t made online—you have to call Wyndham directly at 1-800-441-1034 to book with points.
We called and gave them the property ID and travel dates. The rep confirmed the nightly rate in points and walked us through the process.
💡 Vacasa properties cost 15,000 Wyndham points per bedroom, per night.
So for our 4-bedroom house, it was 60,000 points per night.
We booked 4 nights = 240,000 Wyndham points
That same rental would’ve cost us over $3,200 out of pocket.
How We Earned the Points
We used points earned from our Capital One Venture and Capital One Venture X sign up bonus. (Yes, you can transfer Capital One miles to Wyndham—making this a great way to top off your account.)
If you’re a business owner, pairing a Capital One Venture X Business or Chase Ink Business Preferred with Wyndham Rewards can open up these kinds of family-sized redemptions.
